- Tom Brisbin, CEO of Anaheim-based Willdan Group, plans to retire as CEO effective Dec. 29. He will retain his role as chairman and will act as the company’s part-time consultant to ensure a smooth transition. Willdan’s president, Mike Bieber, will succeed Brisbin as CEO. In addition, CFO Kim Early and general counsel Micah Chen will each be promoted to EVP.
- San Francisco-based Juniper Square, a provider of partnership enablement to the private funds industry, hired Kathie Jones as CFO. She will be responsible for ensuring activities across the organization are in compliance with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other statutory guidelines while establishing new standards for internal policies and procedures to meet evolving regulatory requirements.
- Concord-based Swinerton Incorporated said CEO Eric Foster will retire on Jan. 11, 2024. The Swinerton board has elected current Swinerton president David Callis as the next CEO of both Swinerton and its subsidiaries, including Swinerton Builders. Foster and Callis have worked to ensure a seamless transition since the shift was announced internally to employee-owners in June 2023.
- Law firm Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP said a six-attorney team, led by partners Jenny Hill Bratt and Matthew Owens, has joined the firm’s San Diego (Del Mar) office from Withersworldwide. Also joining from Withersworldwide are special counsel Allison Whitmore Hirsh and associates Mariah Lohse, Nicole M. Paschoal and Austin Prewitt.
- CREW Orange County, a chapter of the national Commercial Real Estate Women Network, announced the group’s board members for 2024. They include the following: President – Joanne Lucas, CRE Executive, Multifamily Asset Management; Immediate Past President – Janne Cordova, Wells Fargo Private Bank; President Elect/Delegate – Anita Chen, Nuveen; Secretary – Caitlin Jinkins, Greystar; Treasurer – Neda Rastegari, OCB Accountants; Communications Director – Dayna Abdel, Passco Companies; Membership Director/Delegate – Angela Gomez-Jones, Endeavor Agency; Programs Director – Heather Francine, Sperry Commercial; Sponsorship Director – Kate Shoemaker, Assured Partners; and Emerging Leader/Delegate – Emma Kelley, Nuveen.
- Jenner & Block has expanded its presence in California, opening its third office in the state in Century City and more than doubling its footprint in San Francisco. The new Century City office follows the opening of the law firm’s downtown Los Angeles office nearly 15 years ago.
- Seabreeze Management Company, Inc., a leading residential and commercial property management has been awarded a Top Workplaces 2023 honor by The Orange County Register Top Workplaces. The Top Workplace Awards are given based on employee feedback, and Aliso Viejo-based Seabreeze reportedly is the only property management company to be named a Top Workplace for seven consecutive years.
- Radious, an online marketplace that turns residential properties into private, collaborative workspaces for daily rentals, said it has achieved 33% growth across the Bay Area within the past month. Nearly doubling the number of available spaces it has in cities like San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland, Radious said it has seen property owners quickly join the platform to take advantage of the flexible work movement driving demand for ad hoc work and meeting areas.
- Kay Properties & Investments, a Torrance-based real estate investment firm that operates www.kpi1031.com, helped an existing client complete two Qualified Opportunity Zone Fund investments following the sale of a vintage Apple One computer that was signed by Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak.
