Orlando considering surf park

Orlando Surf Park Moving Forward

Orlando seems to have almost anything you’d want when looking for entertainment in Florida; a Disney theme park, Universal Studios theme park, SeaWorld. The only thing they don’t have are waves.

The Orlando Business Journal reports a South Florida firm specializing in surf parks is moving forward on its planned project in Orlando’s fast-growing Horizon West region.

The company, Ocean Sports Development, filed a development plan for its Orlando Surf Park — a planned 44-acre recreation, amusement and retail concept park across from Orange County National Golf Center & Lounge. A site plan reveals a 12-acre surf pool surrounded by buildings, including a 27,350-square-foot athletic training facility, two commercial retail buildings totaling just under 40,000 square feet and 585 parking spaces.
