The Peninsula Phase Two Breaks Ground

Phase Two of The Peninsula, a $297 million, two-building 100% affordable development in the Bronx’s Hunts Point has broke ground.

Sponsored by multiple entities including Hudson Companies, Gilbane Development Company, and Wells Fargo Bank, the project will provide 359 affordable units, with a majority at or below 60% of area median income. Notably, 15% of the units will cater to formerly homeless households. The development includes community amenities, a public plaza, and sustainable design elements like rainwater harvesting and solar roof panels. The completion is set for summer 2026.

The project, formerly a juvenile detention center, aims to provide not just homes but spaces and opportunities for families in Hunts Point. “The significant impact that The Peninsula has already had on families in Hunts Point reinforces our ongoing commitment to developing affordable housing that will allow families to stay, grow, and leave lasting impacts in their communities,” said Serena Deng, development director of The Hudson Companies.
