Nordstrom Closing Tukwila Quality Center
Nordstrom will close a quality center that processes returned merchandise in Tukwila, reported the Puget Sound Business Journal. Additionally, the Seattle-based department store will lay off nearly 70 workers as a result of the closure, which will take place early next year.
The company plans to move operations to the Midwest Fulfillment Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, after the lease expires in the current building. The move comes as the retailer has faced recent difficulties, including corporate employee layoffs and the closure of its Canada operations. Nordstrom also closed its flagship San Francisco store, citing changing dynamics downtown.
Nordstrom’s quality center is in a 126,336-square-foot warehouse building at 1000 Andover Park W., per the outlet. The warehouse is used to process returned and damaged products.
