Galveston Boutique Hotel Ready to Make Splash
The new owners left a few reminders of the motor court that used to occupy the spot. Galveston’s Hotel Lucine will open its doors on November 10. The Hotel Lucine occupies the former Treasure Isle Motel property at 1002 Seawall Blvd., at the intersection of 10th Street and Seawall Boulevard.
Culture Map Houston reports the developers of the project preserved the feel of the midcentury motor court by maintaining design details such as the original concrete floors and tiles. All of the 61 rooms have a view of the hotel’s pool, with upper level rooms offering balconies. Founder Keath Jacoby likes the fact that the hotel was more intimate than most large scale hotels today. “We want people to understand this is a place where you’re going to rub elbows and hug necks. It’s not a large, grand property where you’re going to have a ton of privacy, but that was always the goal,” she says.
The hotel will have four food and beverage spaces — The Fancy, a 56-seat “American fine-ish dining” restaurant that will open for dinner on November 14; The Den, a full service restaurant that’s open from breakfast until late; a rooftop bar; and The Lanai, which can be used for private events.
