Rafi Properties Plans $3.3B Somerville Redevelopment

The Somernova business campus in Somerville, Massachusetts, is planning a $3.3 billion redevelopment that will involve demolishing existing low-rise structures and constructing five taller buildings, ranging from nine to 16 stories, totaling almost 2 million square feet, as reported by Boston Business Journal

The development will be aimed at “tough tech” tenants and is set to take place over a decade or more. The plans, proposed by Rafi Properties, require a zoning change, as the current zoning, intended for manufacturing and fabrication, no longer fits the industries that the project will house. The new development will not include housing but will feature retail and community spaces.
