- Kansas City-based industrial real estate development company Jones Development announced two internal promotions and a new role for the firm’s founder, Kevin Jones. Nick Jones will be the firm’s new President and Cameron Cooper will be promoted to EVP, Development. The firm’s founder, Kevin Jones, will now serve as Chairman of the Board. Based in Missouri, Jones Development is a second-generation industrial real estate development firm specializing in build-to-suit and speculative facilities ranging in size and scale across the U.S. and Canada.
- Frank Franzese and Steven Bauer have joined Colliers firm as Vice Chair and Executive Vice President respectively. The partners will continue to work together on corporate assignments in Chicago and throughout the U.S. and will be based in Colliers’ Chicago office. Franzese and Bauer arrive from Cushman & Wakefield where the duo have been partners for over 15 years. Together, they have executed over 50 million square feet of transactions valued at more than $30 billion. Notable clients include Medline Industries, NiSource, UBS, iManage, Quarles & Brady, Cerity Partners, United Way, The Federal Savings Bank, the American Hospital Association and Hollister, Inc.
- Lynn Drake has joined Mohr Partners, Inc., a global corporate real estate advisory and outsourcing services firm, as a managing partner to lead its Detroit office. Drake comes to Mohr Partners with over 35 years of commercial real estate experience and an extensive background that spans corporate real estate and commercial brokerage, including the representation of tenants and buyers.
- Hilco Redevelopment Partners announced the appointment of four national leaders to the company’s corporate advisory board: Dr. Judith Rodin, President Emerita of the University of Pennsylvania and former President of the Rockefeller Foundation; Lieutenant General Thomas P. Bostick (Ret.), former Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; Ron DeGregorio, former CEO of NET Power and President of Exelon Power; and Michael K. Ohm, leading environmental attorney and former Managing Partner of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP.
- Sage West Loop, a mixed-use high-rise in the West Loop district, recently celebrated its grand opening. Designed by KTGY in collaboration with developer Tandem Partners, Sage West Loop is an 18-story high-rise with 196 luxury apartment units and is located at 1044 W. Van Buren Street.
- The NASCAR Chicago Street Race will return for the 2024 season, bringing the event back for a second time to Grant Park on July 6-7, 2024. Mayor Brandon Johnson announced that NASCAR officials also agreed to cover the cost of staging the race incurred by the city, in line with other large-scale events in Chicago.
- The Counselors of Real Estate, a global organization of commercial property advisors headquartered at 430 North Michigan Avenue, released its annual report on the Top Ten Issues Affecting Real Estate. Among the leading issues are political unrest, global economic health, office occupancy and valuations, artificial intelligence, interest rates and inflation.
