Related Cos. Looking at Caldwell Co for Cold Storage Facility

The $65 million project is slated for Lockhart, Texas, in Caldwell County. Both the town and county are exploring incentive programs as a carrot for Related to close the deal. The Austin Business Journal reports Related plans to build a roughly 310,000-square-foot cold storage facility on 53 acres in Lockhart. It would be used to store frozen and refrigerated goods to serve food producers and manufactures, grocery retailers and food service companies, and it could ultimately be part of a larger development.

The Caldwell County Commissioners Court will consider approving an incentive agreement between the County and Related at a future meeting. Additionally, the Lockhart Economic Development Corp. has called a special meeting to consider providing $1 million in utilities reimbursement for over a 10-year term.

Related’s developments include Hudson Yards in New York, The Grand LA in Los Angeles and The 78 in Chicago.
