SLC Adaptive Reuse Project Tops Out
At one time, it was the bustling Union Pacific Depot Train Station. The building constructed in 1909 is being turned into a luxury hotel. The Athens Group and Hatteras Sky are teaming up on a project to build the eight-story Asher Adams. Construction just hit its ceremonial midpoint, achieving the milestone of being topped off. The developer duo is transforming the property into a 225-room Marriott Autograph Collection hotel; the first of its kind in Salt Lake City. Opening is slated for fall of 2024.
“Asher Adams pays homage to the rich history of Salt Lake City and the Union Pacific Depot while providing locals and guests from across the globe with a luxurious and contemporary experience,” said Athens Group’s Kim Richards. Much of the train stations’ French Empire architecture will be preserved during the transition.
Named after Asher and Adams, they were the first cartographers to depict railroad routes on maps.
