$475M hospital to commence work on San Antonio's Southside

$475M Hospital Headed to South San Antonio

Few can argue the southside of San Antonio lacks medical care options.

That will change. Site preparation work is now underway on the 68-acre parcel at Zarzamora Street and Jaguar Lane for what will be home to University Health’s new Palo Alto Hospital. The roughly $475 million project is planned for a historically underserved South Side area expected to grow more significantly. The South Side hospital is expected to open in 2027.

The San Antonio Business Journal reports the Palo Alto Hospital will be a full-service facility, housing an emergency room for adults and children, labor and delivery suites and a neonatal intensive care unit. It will connect to a new medical office building that will be home to family medicine practices and a wide range of specialists.

University Health expects to break ground on a similarly priced hospital in Selma next year.
