Miami Beach Awards Boucher Brothers Beach Front Operation
With a 4-3 vote, The Miami Beach City Commission narrowly approved a resolution that switched out concessionaires of a beachfront hospitality operation. A 10-year contract was awarded to the Boucher Brothers, and the operator of Nikki Beach, the Penrod family, is out.
Under its bid, the Boucher Brothers team will invest $26.23 million in building an oceanfront hospitality complex designed by Miami-based architect Kobi Karp. It will include New York-based Major Food Group’s Sadelle’s Boardwalk Cafe, a first-floor outdoor Mediterranean restaurant, a second floor Japanese steakhouse, a children’s center run by Coconut Grove-based Itavi, a wellness spa, a pool, and beach concessions.
In exchange for control of the property, the Boucher team will pay the city 10% of its gross operations revenue, or a minimum of $4 million a year. The team will also fund a police sub-station on site, discounts for residents, community events, education grants, food donations, and other programs.
