DCHFA Provides $51M for DC Affordable Housing

The District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency (DCHFA) has allocated $51.3 million to support an affordable senior housing project in Washington, D.C.

This development, named H.R. Crawford Gardens, is the second of its kind in the district, aiming to provide housing for seniors and “grandfamilies” – grandparents raising children. DCHFA’s investment includes $25.9 million in tax-exempt bonds, $21.4 million in federal low-income housing tax credit equity, and $4 million in District LIHTC equity.

Located at 737 50th Street NE, the project, led by developers like Manna Corporation and Mutreja Developer, will offer 76 units for seniors, grandfamilies, and formerly homeless tenants. Income limits of 30 to 50 percent of the area median income will apply, with units ranging from one to three bedrooms, including accessible and permanent supportive housing units. The development will feature amenities such as a green roof, community room, and fitness center.
