UT to build $200M biological center in Dripping Springs

UT Building $10M Dripping Springs Biological Field Center

The Hill Country Field Station will be located at Mirasol Springs, a development in Dripping Springs on the Pedernales River. The initiative, with plans to to construct a number of field stations, is expected to cost $200 million. RealPage founder and Mirasol Capital CEO Steve Winn donated $50 million to the project. The rest will come from the University of Texas.

In addition to the field station, the property will consist of a hotel, cottages and homesites.

UT has six field stations, or areas across the state that are used for research across disciplines, educational outreach, environmental study and experiences for students.

Construction on the station is expected to begin within the year with the goal of opening in the first half of 2026.
