Video: NAR, CCIM Join Forces for National Conference

On the post-Labor Day commercial real estate events calendar is the C5 + CCIM Global Summit | Commercial Real Estate Conference, scheduled for Sept, 28-30 in Atlanta. The three-day event marks the first conference collaboration between the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and the CCIM Institute.

To help set the stage for the conference, Connect Media president and CEO Daniel Ceniceros spoke with Ashley Jackrel, VP office & investment services, Avison Young. She noted that it’s an eye-opening experience to attend a conference, hear a presentation and have a fellow attendee raise his or her hand and say, “Thank you for that presentation, but that’s not at all what we’re experiencing in my market.”

The distinction between primary and secondary markets “has never been more prevalent in the conversation” in the years since Jackrel became part of the industry. This dichotomy makes networking and exchanging ideas—which are best done on a face-to-face basis—especially valuable.

For the C5 + CCIM conference, “The goal is that everybody has some kind of takeaway, whether it’s the networking, the relationship-building and the deal-making or the educational component and elevating our professionalism as an industry,” said Jackrel.

In the video below, Jackrel also provides insights on starting her own business and the perspective that experience can provide for her clients, how she pursued her CCIM designation and how her involvement with NAR nationally informs her work at the local level.
