Winn Breaks Ground on $85M, 154-Unit New Britain Apartment Community

WinnDevelopment has broken ground on an $85 million project to convert a historic manufacturing complex into affordable housing in New Britain, Connecticut.

Located at 321 and 322 Ellis Street, the 115-year-old complex called Landers, Frary & Clark plant will be transformed into a 154-unit apartment community for affordable housing and workforce households. Amenities will include a fitness room, community room, game room, flex workspaces, outdoor seating areas, 230 parking spaces, and on-site leasing, maintenance, and management offices. The completed building will also feature a solar array, electric vehicle charging stations, and other energy-efficient amenities.

The project will preserve the historic exterior of the buildings while adapting the interior space into apartments ranging from one to three bedrooms. The development is being financed by various public and private partners, including the Connecticut Department of Housing and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority.
