Midland bass Pro shop to double original plan

Midland Bass Pro Shop to Exceed 100K SQ Feet

The original proposal called for a new Bass Pro Shops coming to Midland to measure 50,000 square feet. Now it’s looking more like a 100,000-square-foot facility.

In a special Commissioners’ meeting dedicated to discussing a sales tax rebate for the store’s developers, County Judge Terry Johnson shared that the developers of the Bass Pro Shops in west Midland have expanded the yet-to-be-built facility by about 50,000 square feet.

The Midland Reporter-Telegram reports, in a community meeting in west Midland in May, Charles Hodges, the developer of the retail store, said the location had been upgraded from 50,000 square feet to 65,000 square feet with 115 employees and an estimated $28 million in sales. It was shared in special court session Monday that the size of the facility has expanded, and the number of employees has been increased to “upwards of 300”. Texas is home to 14 Bass/Cabela’s stores.
