Former Commanders Practice Facility in Herndon Sells for $25M
The former practice facility of the Washington Commanders in Herndon, Virginia, has been sold to 13832 Redskin Acquisition, an affiliate of Starwood Capital Group, reported by Washington Business Journal.
The property, located at 13832 Redskin Drive, was purchased by Word of Grace Christian Church 23 years ago. The church sold the property for $25 million, earning $22.6 million more than its initial purchase price. Starwood Capital Group plans to develop a 2.2 million-square-foot, four-building data center campus on adjacent industrial land. The church property includes a building and two turf athletic fields that were previously managed by the Chantilly Youth Association. The association had to vacate the property due to the sale.
Starwood Capital Group’s plans involve leveling the warehouse buildings within Renaissance Park and replacing them with data centers, with the new buildings wrapping around the former church property.
