Nonprofit SupplyBank.org Plans Office, Warehouse Facility in Oakland
Oakland nonprofit SupplyBank.org, which distributes essential supplies to under-resourced populations, is moving forward with plans to build a mixed-use complex in Oakland, reported the San Francisco Business Times. The project would include a 160,000-square-foot Class A office building and a 120,000-square-foot warehouse facility at 5601 Oakport St., about a mile north of the Oakland Coliseum.
To be built on land owned by the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD), the project will also include a 10,000-square-foot workshop space for EBMUD and close to 40,000 square feet of materials storage for the utility, which currently uses the 16.5-acre Oakport site as a pipe storage yard.
The proposal will appear before Oakland’s Planning Commission July 12, the Business Times reported. If built, the project would be among the first major office projects to proceed in Oakland since before the pandemic. Vacancy rates in Oakland’s core business district reached 28.8% last quarter, while citywide vacancy was 17.3%, according to CBRE.
