Holy Names Campus in Oakland Reportedly Goes to BH Properties
BH Properties is acquiring the 58.6-acre campus of Holy Names University in Oakland, reported the San Francisco Business Times. The 155-year-old academic institution put the campus up for sale this past March after defaulting on its $49-millon loan.
It’s not yet clear how much Los Angeles-based BH is paying for the campus. The Catholic college was seeking about $70 million when it first listed the property with CBRE representing it, the Business Times reported.
BH said in a statement Friday that it intended to lease space at the campus to other educational operators. “There are many organizations in dire need of educational space and we believe there will be significant interest in leasing this site,” Andy Van Tuyle, a senior managing director for BH, said in the statement.
The reported sale occurs about three weeks before the property was scheduled to go through a foreclosure auction.
