Picklemall to take over shuttered Phoenix big box store

Coming to a Galleria Near You, Picklemall

At first, clever pickleball enthusiasts had to reconfigure tennis courts to get a chance to play their favorite new sport. But they soon discovered outdoor courts are subject to heat, glare, wind and rain. Now, welcome to Picklemall.

Picklemall will debut its first U.S. location in July in the Arizona Mills shopping mall in Tempe. Picklemall will occupy a 104,000-square-foot space previously occupied by At Home Stores, which closed in 2019.

The Phoenix Business Journal reports that with the new concept, formerly what would have been aisles and aisles of home decor will be replaced with 24 pickleball courts. The target customer for Picklemall will be those who have previously picked up a paddle and are looking to improve their game.

Snacks and soft drinks, rather than hot food and liquor, will be served at Picklemall.

Picklemall has a goal of opening as many as 50 nationwide locations in the next 24 months.
