Rail Service Company to Double Its Presence in Georgetown

Loram Technologies has started work on a new location at 3502 S. Austin Ave., Georgetown.

The provider of railway maintenance and service equipment is constructing a new office and manufacturing facility, doubling its 150-person team to 300 positions. Once construction is complete, the company will move operations from its site at 111 Cooperative Way, Georgetown.

In 2021, the Georgetown City Council passed an incentives agreement to aid with the completion of the facility that was expected to have a capital investment of at least $17 million. It is to be located on a 24-acre site, and the building was said to be at least 50,000 square feet. Now, the project is listed as costing $23 million and encompassing about 94,000 square feet. Loram is expected to relocate its existing 167 employees and create an additional 150 jobs, with an average salary of $60,000 once construction is completed, in 2025.
