Hines Building Matching Towers for IBM’s Austin Workforce
Hines has quickly responded to IBM’s desire to move from their work sites. The Houston-based builder is designing two 14-story office towers at the site of a La Quinta Inn and Suites at the northern tip of The Domain. IBM put the word out last year and it has already agreed to lease 320,000 square feet, out of the project’s 500,000 total square feet. Big Blue will completely take over one of the towers and two of the top floors of the other one. The buildings should be move-in ready in 2027.
IBM has a significant presence in Austin. 6,000 employees currently take up space in two separate office complexes. The plan is to have them all at the same place.
The Austin Business Journal says an IBM spokesperson says the new office will “have every aspect of IBM”. It will include the AI and cloud software team, systems team, consulting team, marketing, sales, comms, finance and operations.
