$600M Lone Star District prep work to kick off in San Antonio

GrayStreet, Midway Ready to Go at Site of Abandoned San Antonio Brewery

Preliminary work is underway to prepare a 32-acre site that what was once the famed Lone Star Brewery, for an ambitious redevelopment. The famed brewery closed its doors in 1996 and has been the target of graffiti and vandalism since. GrayStreet Acquisitions, and its partner Midway, are heading up the project.

GrayStreet is using some of the $24 million it received in public incentives funding to carry out the early work, such as environmental and demolition work on the long abandoned 40,000 square foot brewery. Actual construction on the planned mixed-use development could begin before the end of the year. The public incentive funding was predicated on the developers saying they expect to spend up to $600 million on a mixed-use project at the site.

The co-developers hope to turn the area into a pedestrian-friendly mix of apartments, offices, restaurants, shops, entertainment venues, art, and green space.
