Atlantic Council Relocates to L Street in DC’s Largest New Office Lease of Q1
The Atlantic Council, a major foreign policy think tank, has signed a lease for 79,671 square feet at the Aleck building at 1400 L St. NW, nearly twice the size of its current space 1030 15th St. NW. The Washington Business Journal reported it was the largest new lease signed in the District during a relatively quiet first quarter of 2023.
Founded in 1961, The Atlantic Council focuses on international affairs issues covering security, defense, economics, politics and diplomacy. It has about 650 personnel around the world who frequently convene in DC, its global headquarters, for events.
Mark Klug, Scott Frankel, Carroll Cavanagh, Emily Eppolito and Dimitri Hajimihalis of CBRE brokered the lease on behalf of landlord The Meridian Group. Cushman & Wakefield’s Kurt Richter, Ned Goodwin and Reed Miller represented The Atlantic Council. A Council spokesperson told the Business Journal that the relocation will happen in late 2024.
