SJSU to Reshape its Campus with Four Major Projects
San Jose State University is planning four major projects that would reshape the downtown campus, and the city skyline, in a major way. According to Bay Area News Group, SJSU officials are either planning or completing projects that would add more student housing, a new academic facility and an athletic center at CEFCU Stadium.
Campus Village 3 will add over 1,000 new student beds, nearly half of which would be affordable. According to the SJSU website, the project will also feature a welcome center and a large dining hall. Phase I is slated to include a tower with 260 units. The entire project is scheduled for completion by 2027.
The $750 million Alquist Redevelopment on Paseo De San Antonio will create as many as 1,000 housing units in a tower of at least 24 stories. Half of the units would be reserved for San Jose State graduate students, faculty and staff. The project is also slated for completion in 2027.
Currently nearing completion is the 164,000-square foot Interdisciplinary Science Building and the 55,000-square-foot Spartan Athletics Center at CEFCU Stadium.
