IonQ to Open First-Ever Quantum Computing Facility in Bothell

IonQ to Open First-Ever Quantum Computing Facility in Bothell

The first known dedicated quantum computing manufacturing facility will be based in the Pacific Northwest as IonQ has announced plans to build an R&D complex in Bothell, WA. The project has support from U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) and Congresswoman Suzan DelBene and is part of IonQ’s $1 billion investment in PNW over the next 10 years.

The 65,000-square-foot facility will house IonQ’s second quantum data center and be the primary production engineering location for the firm in North America. “Advanced technologies like quantum computing are key to solving some of the world’s most pressing challenges such as climate change, energy and transportation,” said IonQ CEO Peter Chapman.

“Opening this facility will absolutely help ensure Washington state continues to be a leader in innovation and cutting-edge technologies – but it also means jobs that will be an investment in our families and their futures,” commented Senator Murray.
