San Marcos Cineplex to make way for 313 apartment units

San Marcos Cineplex Makes Way for New Apartments

Demolition of the dormant Starplex movie theater, located at 1250 Wonder World Drive in San Marcos, has begun to make way for Long View Equity’s next project, a 313-unit multifamily project with some attached retail. The company hopes to receive its site development permit in early 2023 and begin site work shortly thereafter

Long View’s Daniel Campbell saw the demise of the theater complex as an opportunity, “They are very special use buildings that are hard to reuse. It’s a way to take property that has outseen its usefulness and move it into something that can contribute to the community. We see a nice mix of multifamily and commercial, together.”

The Wonder World Apartments will have around 10 buildings throughout with one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Other amenities will include a pool, cabana and dog park. The project will be built on 12.75 acres and is projected to be completed in early 2025.
