Mackenzie Promotes Jan Mason in Portland

Design firm Mackenzie has promoted Jan Mason to the role of Director of Communications and Equitable Development. In her new role, Mason will expand her ongoing work with economic development practitioners, government staff and commercial developers in strategizing, planning and promoting economic well-being and a higher quality of life, particularly in communities marginalized in the development process.

Mason, who will be based in Portland, is an active community leader and has contributed to the writing of the State of Oregon Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Action Plan; local, regional and statewide economic development strategies; as well as writing the equity framework for a recent Build Back Better federal application.

“I’m thrilled at the opportunity to participate in the advancement of strategies in our region to create a more equitable and inclusive built environment,” said Mason. “I am passionate about championing a focus that moves marginalized people closer to the center, thus creating a resilient and more robust community.”
