Surfs up in Houston, new water park in 2024

Houston to Catch Next Big Wave

If you live in Houston and want to go to the beach, it’s about a 30 minute drive to Galveston. But if you want to surf, good luck. The gulf more than not has small, inconsistent waves. Now, those who walk the nose and shred will have a new, world-class surf destination coming to Generation Park in north Houston.

HTX Surf will bring the beach to Generation Park in fall of 2024. Beach Street Development, the company that constructs man-made surfing lagoons hopes to start on its project in early 2023. Wave machines create up to 1,000 waves per hour in the 6-acre surf lagoon, where up to 70 riders per hour can ride.

It sounds like Generation Parks Ryan McCord can’t wait, “We’re thrilled to welcome this innovative, world-class surfing destination to Generation Park. Such a unique amenity is a great asset for Houston and will attract a wide range of personalities–from professional surfers, amateur boarders, families, and corporate groups among others.”
