Law firm Crowell & Moring LLP will occupy approximately 71,000 square feet in a relocation to Brookfield Properties’ Two Manhattan West

D.E. Shaw Takes 283K SF, Brings Two Manhattan West to 76% Leased

Hedge fund D.E. Shaw & Co. has signed a lease at Brookfield Properties’ Two Manhattan West, spanning roughly 283,000 square feet, Bloomberg News reported. The firm plans to move to the new skyscraper in 2024, relocating from 1166 Ave. of the Americas, where it reportedly occupies about 200,000 square feet.

The lease brings Two Manhattan West to 76% leased and comes five weeks after KPMG committed to a 456,000-square-foot headquarters space at Two Manhattan West, consolidating from three locations in Midtown Manhattan in what is reportedly the city’s largest office lease this year. It also underscores a flight to quality via relocation to new or renovated developments, reported Bloomberg.

D.E. Shaw, which has more than $60 billion in assets under management, was represented by CBRE’s Timothy Dempsey, Roger P. Griswold Jr., Munish Viralam and Marlee Teplitzky. Brookfield’s Duncan McCuaig led an in-house leasing team.
