School of Fashion Design in Boston Patterns an $8M Sale of Back Bay Building
The School of Fashion Design has sold 136 Newbury Street, an existing four-story mixed-use building along the Back Bay retail corridor in Boston, MA, for $7.6 million.
Kendin Carr, Caleb Hudak and John Real of Colliers represented the seller and completed the transaction with a buyer who plans to convert the property to modern office space. The 8,350-square-foot building is currently used for a combination of retail and classroom/office spaces.
“The challenging times didn’t diminish the strong demand for this value-add opportunity at 136 Newbury,” said Carr. “Throughout our marketing process, the strong appetite for trophy assets in Boston’s premier shopping and retail location became clear.”
Newbury Street is known shopping and dining options. It is steps from famed Boston landmarks, including the mixed-use complex Prudential Center, Charles River Esplanade, Boston Common, Commonwealth Avenue Mall, Hynes Convention Center and Boston Public Library.
