Houston Methodist Looking at Bellaire for Medical Facility

The Houston Methodist hospital group is looking at a real estate development site in the Houston suburb of Bellaire. The 3.1 acre parcel is currently the location of a closed Randalls grocery store. The store had been there for over 70 years before shutting its doors in 2021. The 106,000 square foot empty building would have to be razed to make way for a discussed four-story medical building.

Shopping center giant Kimco currently owns the property and has signed a lease with a group of medical professionals from Houston Methodist. Kimco has 533 properties nationwide, comprising 92 million square feet of leasable space.

The group will make a formal presentation in front of the local planning and zoning board on September 8th. The four story project does not currently conform with local zoning, so the group would need to get a height variance or a change to the plan.
