Tucson Hospital Buys Outlying Parcel
Tucson Medical Center (TMC) is looking to build another medical center in nearby Marana. Vintage Partners, the developer of Marana Center and Tucson Premium Outlets at I-10 and Twin Peak, recently sold a 37-acre site to the hospital holding company for $16 million. Vintage Partners also sold an adjacent site to HCW in Phoenix, for $1.3 million, for construction of a 96-room SpringHill Suites Hotel. It’s expected to open in Summer 2023.
The TMC purchase comes on the heels of another Tucson hospital group, Northwest Hospital, selling off land it owned nearby. No word from TMC about when it might begin construction.
Tucson Medical Center, licensed at more than 600 beds, has been Tucson’s locally governed nonprofit regional hospital for more than 75 years. TMC is Southern Arizona’s leading provider for emergency care and pediatric care (including Tucson’s first Pediatric Emergency Department), with intensive care units for adults, children and newborns.
