Harrison Street Poised to Anchor New Fulton Market Tower
Harrison Street Real Estate Capital is more than tripling the size of its downtown office and moving it to the Fulton Market District, reported Crain’s Chicago Business. The private-equity firm is finalizing a deal to lease about 150,000 square feet of offices and a 22,000-square-foot outdoor terrace in the 11-story office building proposed at 919 W. Fulton St., Fulton Street Cos. CEO Alex Najem told Crain’s.
Assuming the five-floor anchor lease is completed, Harrison Street will relocate its Chicago headquarters from 444 W. Lake St., where it occupies about 50,000 square feet. The lease would stand out as a rare big office expansion as many companies downsize their footprints.
The lease would also clear a path for Fulton Street Cos. and co-developer JDL Development to obtain construction financing for the $320-million project. Additionally, it reflects Harrison Street’s growth: founded in 2005, it now has nearly $50 billion in assets under management.
