WS Development Makes Second Wilmette Acquisition
Massachusetts-based mixed-use developer WS Development, has acquired Plaza del Lago in Wilmette, Il. The approximately 100,000 square-foot open-air shopping center, which serves as the nation’s second oldest shopping destination, is situated along the shore of Lake Michigan and is home to a variety of boutiques, restaurants, and service businesses.
Plaza del Lago joins Edens Plaza as WS’ second property in this lakeside community in Chicago’s North Shore suburbs. The center dates from the 1920s, and with its Spanish-style architecture and neighborhood location is a fixture on the North Shore.
“We are thrilled to expand our footprint in Wilmette with Plaza del Lago,” said Samantha David, president of WS Development. “It’s rare you find a place with such history and innate charm. We look forward to working with the community and the Village of Wilmette to ensure that Plaza del Lago remains an iconic community landmark for decades to come.”
