Taiwan Semiconductor Gives First Look at New $12 Billion Phoenix Plant
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (TSMC) got to show the world what the huge plant will look like this week. It’s the first renderings of the new office structure. The project is under construction on 1.129 acres of land near Interstate 17 and Loop 303. The company, the worlds largest chipmaker, purchased the land in December of 2020.
Structural construction of the fabrication facility is nearing completion and the office building has about half of its glasswork completed. There are currently 38 cranes working on the site.
The construction is on schedule to be operational in 2024. The project represents the largest foreign direct investment in Arizona’s history. A handful of related businesses have been drawn to the area to build or expand their business since the announcement TSMC made to come to Phoenix in 2021.
