$267 Million Creative Production Studio Coming to San Marcos

Hill Country Group is building Hill Country Studios, a virtual production, television, film and streaming studio. When completed, it will be the largest of its kind in Texas. The project will be at the entrance of the La Cima Master-Planned Community in San Marcos.

The complex will boast two identical Virtual Production stages featuring a 75-foot diameter performance space. Overall, the studio will include 12 sound stages across 310,000 square feet, two back lots totaling 15 acres of outdoor production space, modular offices and workspaces.

Co-founder Cory McLoud can’t wait to get started, “What started as a dream to elevate the production industry in Texas, is now becoming reality. We couldn’t think of a better place to propel the entertainment industry with a world-class studio space than in our own backyard.”

The multiuser project will also feature post-production facilities, a 50-seat theater and a full service restaurant and coffee shop. 25 acres will be set aside for vendor and commercial space built to serve both the studio and surrounding community.

The project will be at the entrance of the La Cima Master-Planned Community in San Marcos. Construction should start by early 2023.
