Austin’s St. Elmo District to See New Mixed-Use Project
It’s going to be called Bishop Momo and will include multifamily housing and retail. It’s 3.5 miles away from downtown Austin. The former industrial area has been rezoned and now has dozens of restaurants, breweries, cafes and stores.
United Properties Brenda Studt is trying to use what’s in front of them, “This is a project with industrial-inspired architecture that was creatively designed to fit into the thriving St. Elmo district in a thoughtful and authentic way.”
The multi-use project will combine 274 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units across five floors and will have 5,840 square feet of retail space at street level. 10% of the residential units will be priced for low-income families and individuals.
The apartment complex will put a big premium on sustainability. Rooftop panels, rain gardens, native plant landscaping and the preservation of large shade trees along South Congress Avenue will be part of the green program.
