Construction on Northwestern Medicine's $100-million facility located in Bronzeville, Chicago could begin in 2023

Northwestern Medicine Plans $100M Bronzeville Facility

Northwestern Medicine plans a 120,000-square-foot advanced outpatient care center on the 4800 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. Subject to regulatory approval, construction could begin in summer 2023 and be completed in 2025.

“Northwestern Medicine is a welcome addition to a cadre of new developments on the Cottage Grove Corridor,” said Ald. Sophia King. “From Shops on Lofts on 47th Street to 4400 Grove to the Lillian Marcie Theater Project to the upcoming Brightstar Turn Center, we are not just experiencing a renaissance, we are experiencing a community-led boom.”

The center is expected to serve more than 50,000 patients and family members from Bronzeville and nearby communities annually. Approximately 1,000 construction and 100 healthcare and related jobs will be created. The project reportedly will cost $100 million.

Services will include an immediate care center, primary and specialty care, pharmacy services, diagnostic services and a cancer center.
