JLL Boosts Its Project Dev. Team with New Purchase

JLL is expanding its project-development chops with the purchase of Gilliland Construction Management, a project management company that works with various tenants, from life sciences to multifamily properties.

Kirt Gilliland started his company in 2015 and will join JLL as a senior vice president, helping the existing team at JLL with the management of its $3 billion property portfolio.

Jay Pich, regional managing director of JLL Southwest project and development services, leads the division in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Hawaii, Phoenix and Las Vegas.

This purchase is part of JLL’s seeming interest in providing high-tech, if not cutting-edge, customer service platforms and options. Earlier this year, JLL acquired Hank, “an AI-powered, virtual engineering platform that autonomously optimizes commercial buildings’ management systems in effort to improve air quality, energy savings and comfort,” according to Hank’s website.

Hank, based in Sacramento, Calif., uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to evaluate and address operational challenges, including HVAC or other considerations that crop up in commercial projects.
