Cox, Castle & Nicholson Adds/Promotes New Diversity Executive

With 20-some years of institutional experience – all with Cox, Castle & Nicholson – Alicia Vaz is now the firm’s Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer.

Vaz will serve as a DEI ambassador, internally and externally, and will work closely with Firm management to advance, create and implement the Firm’s strategic short- and long-term DEI plans. Vaz also will continue to be the Chair of the Firm’s DEI Committee, according to a news release.Alicia Voz

“For years, Alicia has played a key role in championing our efforts to increase diversity within the Firm and in the legal community at large,” said Dwayne McKenzie, managing partner, Cox, Castle & Nicholson, in the same release.

Recent research shows that diversity is a needed goal in most workplaces, including commercial real estate, according to EisnerAmper:

A recent Bella Research Group and Knight Foundation study found that more than 75% of senior executive jobs in the U.S. commercial real estate industry were held by White men; 14.1% by White women; 1.3% by Black men; and less than 1% by non-White women.
