Sage Buys Tacoma Motel, Plans Affordable Housing

Non-Profit to Relocate Offices to Tacoma’s South Sixth Street

Morningside, a nonprofit providing employment resources to the disabled, has new office digs on South Sixth Avenue in Tacoma, Wash.

Morningside plans to renovate the 1601 S. Sixth Ave. structure, as well as lease space to other tenants. The 6,500-square-foot property sold for $900,000.

A soon-to-be Tacoma Link light rail facility nearby was a factor in Morningside’s decision to relocate from its present headquarters on South 74th Street in South Tacoma. The new link will provide easy transportation not only for individuals seeking assistance at Morningside, but also for employees with public transit needs for commuting.

According to its website:

“(Morningside works) to assist people on their mission to self-sufficiency by helping them find and keep a job. Morningside also employs and trains people with disabilities or other barriers to employment through the commercial businesses we operate.”

The new offices will support Morningside’s 17 current employees, with space to grow to about 30 as the nonprofit expands, according to a news release.
