Kids, Engineers Celebrate as LEGO Discovery Center Heads to Springfield

Philadelphia, PA-based PREIT’s Springfield Town Center has executed an agreement with Merlin Entertainments to open a LEGO Discovery Center in 2023. The 32,000-square-foot indoor attraction will be accessible on one level off the main entrance of the enclosed shopping center in Springfield, VA.

“This new attraction helps PREIT achieve its goal of creating high quality purposeful places that serve as one-stop destinations for customers at a key property in a growing market,” said Joseph Coradino, chairman and CEO of PREIT.  “Experiential tenants have proven to be great catalysts throughout our portfolio and we expect that, upon opening, our trade area will expand by a two-hour drive time, driving traffic and sales.”

Springfield Town Center’s location is accessible to the more than 25 million people who visit Washington, DC annually.  It is also close to both Amazon’s HQ2 and the TSA’s new headquarters, which are expected to drive retail, leisure and entertainment demand along with economic development.

About Lisa McDuffie

Lisa McDuffie arrives at ConnectCRE via REALTOR® world, where she served for nearly two decades as communications director for one of the nation’s largest REALTOR® organizations. She supported two membership-elected presidents who were commercial real estate practitioners, and managed the communications initiatives of the organization’s commercial special interest group. When not following the latest commercial real estate news, Lisa is zeroed in on her charismatic off-the-track thoroughbred as she makes the transition from an utterly failed racehorse to a lovely show hunter.
