Roku Takes Chunk of Times Square Space Vacated by EY
Streaming TV pioneer Roku will occupy 240,000 square feet on the top eight floors of RXR Realty’s 5 Times Square, the New York Post reported. The company will backfill part of the one million square feet left vacant by accounting giant EY, which relocated to 1 Manhattan West last year.
The new lease more than triples Roku’s current 70,000-square-foot footprint at 114 W. 41st St. RXR chief executive Scott Rechler told the Post that Roku’s space needs grew so fast, it added 100,000 square feet to its initial offer in the middle of a six-month lease negotiation.
RXR was represented in-house by Dan Birney and Alexandra Budd along with a CBRE team led by Robert Alexander and Ryan Alexander. CBRE’s Sacha Zarba and Frederick Fackelmayer negotiated on behalf of Roku.
The Roku lease follows last week’s announcement that Touro College will establish a Midtown campus at nearby Three Times Square.
