Empire State Development Rescinds RFP for Parcel Near Javits Center

Empire State Development has rescinded its request for proposals to develop Site K near the Jacob J. Javits Convention Center, one of the last remaining state-owned parcels in Manhattan. The state agency said it would “reassess development priorities and solicit more input from the local community and other stakeholders.

“It is critical that this site fulfill the Governor’s goal of delivering on the needs of New Yorkers today and into tomorrow,” EDC said in a statement.

Separately, New York City Economic Development Corporation announced progress on another site near the Javits Center expansion. The Manhattan Borough Board has approved an NYCEDC project that will bring affordable housing along with a hotel, office space and a supermarket.

The two towers to be developed by Radson Development and Kingspoint Heights at 495 Eleventh Ave. will rise, at 56 and 57 stories, respectively, between West 39th and West 40th streets.
