Discover Midway Unveils Vision for Transformed Sports Arena Site

Discover Midway recently unveiled the team’s vision to transform the sports arena site into a mixed-use district following official response to the city of San Diego’s Notice of Availability. Affirmed Housing, ASM Global, Brookfield Properties and National CORE envision a destination that includes 3,280 onsite affordable and market-rate rental homes, a reimagined sports arena venue, a local tenant-focused retail Mercado, office space, parks and green space, and a comprehensive community benefits package.

“Our vision is to create a true connected neighborhood featuring meaningful community amenities, housing for a wide range of income levels, active parks and dedicated green spaces, multi-modal transit improvements, and an enhanced sports and entertainment experience for all San Diegans,” said Jessica Jones, senior director of community affairs at Brookfield Properties. “Our team has spent nearly two years evaluating numerous plans and scenarios for this project that create an immediate and lasting impact.”
