Cypress Had Many Options but Finds Sunroad Centrum the Best Fit
Sunroad Enterprises and Cypress Insurance Company recently entered into a new multi-floor lease totaling 34,000 square feet at Sunroad Centrum, an 11-story class-A office tower in central San Diego. The new tenant, Cypress Insurance Company, a Berkshire Hathaway company, signed a long-term deal to occupy the 5th and a portion of the 6th floors of the 279,800-square-foot tower located at 8620 Spectrum Center Blvd. in the city’s Kearny Mesa submarket. The tenant is relocating its local office from downtown San Diego.
“After careful evaluation, we selected Sunroad Centrum due to the unparalleled access and location situated along Route 163: above-market parking, onsite amenities, proximity to an abundance of multifamily options for employees as well as a variety of food and retail options,” says Brian Wesselman, chief operating officer for Cypress. “We had our choice of options, and Sunroad Centrum was the best fit for us.”
Cushman & Wakefield’s Derek Hulse and Brett Ward represented the landlord in the transaction.
“Tenants are drawn to this well-amenitized class-A project with large efficient floorplates and abundant parking. We have strong interest on the entirety of the building. Additionally, this transaction signifies office users are again making long-term decisions as they assess their needs through the pandemic and many are seeking quality office projects with abundant amenities and outdoor spaces to incentivize employees returning to the office.”
Ownership is in process of completing an updated indoor/outdoor event space and lounge, a new meeting/conference center, a new fitness center, and a new building arrival and lobby experience.
