California Exporters Make Modest Gains
A pandemic that continues to stymie international economic growth, global supply chains that are experiencing unprecedented levels of congestion and higher transportation costs have all sent shockwaves throughout the global trade community. And this unfortunate combination continued to challenge the resourcefulness of California exporters in September (the latest numbers from the U.S. Census).
“On a nominal basis, the value of California’s export trade this September almost matched the value recorded two Septembers ago,” said Jock O’Connell, Beacon Economics’ international trade adviser. “We remain at or even below pre-COVID levels of trade.”
