Bricks & Books Raises Funds to Support Rainier Scholars
Skanska USA’s annual Bricks & Books fundraiser will be held virtually for the second year in a row. The ninth-annual fundraiser, featuring a curated silent auction, raises funds to support Rainier Scholars and its mission to cultivate the academic potential and leadership skills of underrepresented students of color.
Beginning October 21, Skanska’s employees, industry partners and members of the community are encouraged to bid and donate via the virtual forum to help fund a future for Rainier Scholars students and empower a new generation of leaders.
“As a long-time partner of Rainier Scholars, we understand that the past year has had a disproportionate impact on communities of color, both here at home and around the country. At Skanska, our commitment and support of Rainier Scholars remains steadfast. It is imperative that we continue to help foster an environment of positive change and opportunity for students of color,” said Matt Sanborn, vice president of business development for Skanska USA Building’s operations in Seattle. “Through Bricks & Books, we continue to take steps towards becoming the community we envision. The event allows us to continue supporting educational opportunities for future leaders of our community, while confronting inequality in our society at the same time.”
Last year’s campaign raised more than $220,000 for Rainier Scholars, which was established in 2000. Skanska has raised more than $1.6 million for Rainier Scholars since the formation of Bricks & Books in 2013.
