Allstate Putting Northbrook Headquarters Up for Sale; Plans to Maintain Chicago Presence

Citing employees’ increasing preference to work remotely, Allstate Corp. plans to sell its headquarters campus in Northbrook, IL, Crain’s Chicago Business and the Chicago Tribune reported. The insurer didn’t specify an asking price for the 1.9-million-square-foot campus, where it has been based since 1967.

“Allstate’s employees have more choice about where they work and many are choosing to work from home,” a  spokeswoman for Allstate said in an emailed statement. “As a result, we will sell our office in Northbrook but plan to keep a significant presence in the Chicago area.”

The company said Friday existing Chicago office space at River Point and theMart will be available to employees, but it’s not clear if Northbrook will remain part of its plans, the Tribune reported.

However, the spokeswoman added, “As we return to the office, we will determine if additional space is needed in the Northbrook area.”
